Nomination Criteria

  • Esteemed teacher educators possess a range of qualities that set them apart and contribute to their effectiveness in preparing future educators. Esteemed teacher educators are characterized by their deep knowledge and expertise in subject matter and pedagogy, which they use to provide comprehensive and up-to-date instruction.

  • They exhibit a genuine passion for teaching and learning, effectively communicating complex ideas and engaging students through innovative practices. They foster collaboration, encourage reflective practice, and demonstrate cultural competence, valuing diversity and promoting inclusive teaching environments.

  • Additionally, they provide mentorship, support, and continuous professional development opportunities while advocating for excellence in education and leading positive changes in educational policies and practices.

  • Teacher educators who are in service at any local or international teacher education institutions / universities recognized by state / government authorities. Full or part time teacher educators with a minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience in any discipline are eligible to apply.

The Prizes

  • A Research Grant Worth USD5,000.
  • The Benang Emas Trophy.
  • Certificate.
  • Return Air Ticket for one to attend the GEA Event.
  • Accomodation for GEA Event.

Nomination Process

  • This award is open to all nationalities.
  • Submission of application can be through self-nomination or nomination by others.
  • All applicants are required to complete the registration and submit their application at www.gea.upsi.edu.my.
  • All submissions need to be accompanied by:
    a)   a portfolio; and
    b)   a short video (of not more than 5 minutes)
  • Shortlisted applicants will be notified and partake in an interview with the panel of judges.
  • All applicants must abide by the rules and regulations as stipulated in the terms and conditions.
  • All applications are reviewed according to a set of criteria by the awards panel of judges.
  • All applicants will be notified of the result within two (2) months from the closing date. If an applicant does not receive any notification after two (2) months from the closing date, the application is considered unsuccessful.
  • The decision made by the panel of judges is final and binding.
